Re: Wireless driver discussion: msg#00018handhelds.linux.kernel
my name is Amish. I am working on a project where I will need to access a wireless card directly (Create home brew routing protocol) to send and receive data bypassing the usuall tcp/ip protocol that comes with wireless modules these days. I will therefore need to create a module that talks to the wireless card directly and passes the information back to user application. I will also be working with wireless on PDAs. I currently have familiar 0.8.2 on an Ipaq h5555 Since I am very new at this, I am not sure to which mailing list I should subscribe or if this even falls under kernel discussion. I would really appreciate a suggestion from anybody about possible books or website that might be good for learning purposes. Thanks a bunch IP is done below the network interface layer. What part needs to be done in kernel land for proof of concept? Just use raw sockets to inject packets onto the (virtual) wire -- or possibly, this could be even done inside broadcast UDP packets. The purpose of this mailing list is to discuss issues specific to runninig the Linux kernel on handheld devices. If you have problems building your kernel-layer code, should you choose to do that, on a hh.org kernel, then this is the appropriate list to ask. joshua Amish _______________________________________________ |
