OK... we've got to the bottom of this. The problem is that jffs2 does not support shared writeable mmap, which is exactly what apt-get uses. It's not a memory issue. This'll fail even if you try to mmap 4097bytes. JFFS2 doesn't support shared-writeable. I guess that this needs to be raised as a problem with apt-get, as this functionality isn't going to be added to jffs2 (for good reasons). Jim
