Subject: Re: Is Familiar dead?
Hello Richard,

You can download the following archive:
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/hx4700/Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-ipk-2007.9-test-20071213-hx4700.rootfs.tar.gz

Then create 2 partition s on CF (hda1, hda2 (on hx4700, on PC sdX1,
sdX2). The first (FAT) can be small (~64M sould be OK). The second
(ext2. ext3) can be the remaining.

Uncompress the file above to the second.

Download

http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/hx4700/zImage-2.6.21-hh19-r2-hx4700.bin
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/hx4700/startup.txt
http://www.handhelds.org/~koconnor/haret/haret-20071209.exe

Put these files to first partition.

Read startup.txt and modify it as you need.

Start HaRET.

Unfortunately my CF's id is not in the kernel, so usually I need to
patch it and compile myself (symptom: cannot mount root fs, kernel panic).

Of course you can write kernel, SDG bootloader to flash if you prefer.

Are you using it on a hx4700? I have not been able to find any info on how to put root on CF being as how altboot is apparently no tavailable for the hx4700. Can you point me to a HOWTO or some documentation? I have tried to post to the Angstrom mailing list but they either don't answer or answer with snide remarks that don't provide any help in solving the problem. I have been use Angstrom, and lot of feature was working. Especially
placing root fs on CF, since I was using it on that way.
