Subject: O2 XDA or T-Mobile MDA with Linux - msg#00307List: handhelds.ipaq.general

Hi,
I am a Pocket PC newbie and I have some newbie questions: Does anybody know anything about running Linux on the O2 XDA or T-Mobile MDA smart phone? Is it possible to run Linux on a Pocket PC without modifing andything but storing some data on the PDA? I am looking for a way to boot Linux by a boot loader like CyaCE and run it completely from an initrd image. I didnt find any information about that. All I found requires some kind of flash or micro drive. Is there any support for the "SD media proprietary non disclosure junk"? The XDA has only such a slot. cu Sascha _______________________________________________ Open Source Software for Compaq iPAQ Handhelds. iPAQ mailing list iPAQ@xxxxxxxxxxxxx https://handhelds.org/mailman/listinfo/ipaq irc://irc.openprojects.net #ipaq
Thread at a glance:
Previous Message by Date:Re: DRAM test in bootldr 2.18.54?OK, I figured out what I was doing wrong. :) Physical RAM starts at 0xC0000000, and the bootldr has a megabyte or so of virtual memory mapped, about 31 MB or so into DRAM. Uploading a 32 MB image overwrote the bootldr. I was able to upload it in two chunks: load flash 0x00040000 load flash 0x1000000 I needed to upload my root image because something happened that threw off the bootldr's jffs2 module (I guess). It was seeing about an extra kilobyte or so in the zImage that wasn't really there (I checked with "md5sum file"). Uploading the image to another machine, mounting it and syncing it fixed things.
