Problems on ipaq 3850

I'm having trouble during the boot stage of the kernel on a ipaq 3850

Bootloader works and is Revision 2-21-12 . The initial screen on the ipaq 
works and the serial connection also works.

load root works:
        Tried each of:
                bootgpe2-v0.7.2-h3600.tar
                bootopie-v0.7.2-h3600.tar
                bootstrap-v0.7.2-h3600.tar

but when I type:  boot

I get:
...........................
.....................................................Offset = 004FD310
...........................
.....................................................Offset = 004FD310
...........................
.....................................................Offset = 004FD310
...........................

and it goes on forever and never finishes the boot.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
