Re: Can't install bootldr-pxa-2.20.4 on HP5550: msg#00003handhelds.ipaq.boot-loader
Joshua Wise <joshua@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> a écrit : | The vibration is correct behavior. (You shoudl be holding the joypad | while resetting the iPAQ.) All right, what can I say... ? It was certainly working from day 1, but I didn't notice it! I was influenced by my previous experience with an HP36xx, where the bootloader manifests itself by showing a penguin picture and waits a few seconds before loading the OS. Just for the archives: when you hold the joypad down and reset, the iPaq vibrates and then freezes (no answer to buttons or touchscreen). It looks like it's dead, but it's actually all hapening! The bootloader is waiting for your input. I just can't believe I haven't put the "dead" iPaq on its craddle and pressed Return in minicom to see "by accident" the friendly "boot>" prompt. Thanks to both of you for repeating "obvious things", that I was missing. Yes, hold the joypad down while reseting and it will work! Joshua: I can't believe my ISP rejected your email! (this is a service I could pay for, though ;-). I am very sorry about that. If you send me the email that notified the rejection to you, I will complain as appropriate to them. daniel_bootldr at club-internet.fr is a valid address. And thanks again for your help.
