Perhaps it was some sort of a routing error in the network. I was able
to talk with other sites, and to fetch my calendar via web browser, but
the Google calendar was unreachable for at least an hour.

Is there any place to check the current status of services provided by
GData?  It would really be spiffy to be able to see whether a service
was fully functional.
