You were resizing a FAT partition? How big was it? How much
were you resizing it by?

Thanks,
Andrew

I don' think this is exactly right, that it should show both. Anyway, since you did a mkpart, and not a mkpartfs or mkfs or an mke2fs outside of parted, then what you see is the normal reaction. I don't know much about hard disks, but it is likely that you can spend money and get a reliable copy. For example, it might be the circuitry that is broken rather than the actual disk, in which case a data recovery shop can probably do a transplant :) I guess it depends how much the data is worth to you. Cheers, Andrew

wrong type?

dear parteddies, if i remove a primary linux-swap partition, mkpart a primary ext3 partition in its place, and then print, print claims that it is still (or again) a linux-swap partition instead of ext3. i think the type really is ext3 now, but print tells me the wrong thing? is this a bug, or a misunderstood feature? redhat 9 +up2date, parted-1.6.3-11 thank you, -greg -- http://gnuleaf.net -- a new lease on life for stranded red hatters
