Python bindings for widgets like GtkSourceView are not as actively maintained as the core GTK+ widgets. I recommend that you enter a bug and ask Ahmad to submit his code. I was faced with a similar situation with VTE, the terminal widget used by gnome-terminal in GNOME 2. It had a good start at Python bindings, but needed some attention. I would have been less inclined to work on them if they were maintained externally.
