TextView font dimensions: msg#00156

Subject: TextView font dimensions 
Hi gtk-perl,

Can anyone give me some directions as to how I manage to:

1. Calculate the rows and columns of a TextView with a monospaced font.

2. Make the window manager display these dimensions when resizing the
application.
