Re: using gaim to communicate over ssh to a jabber server

OK - I have the SOCKS proxy working with firefox (cool - didn't know
about this before). However, still problems with gaim. I'm sure this is
down to my ignorance.

I have ssh set as follows:

ssh -N -D8000 jabber.smtl.co.uk

Gaim setup
--------------------------------

protocol Jabber
Server localhost   (???)
Resource Gabber
Password ******
Alias  pete

Jabber options:  all blank

Proxy options
Proxy type SOCKS 4
Host localhost
POrt 8000

--------------------------------

My jabber server isn't seeing anything (logs are empty) and gaim errors
with "unable to create socket".

However, the port 8000 is working on my localhost.  

Any thoughts on where I've gone wrong ?
