You need to set the connect server to localhost, and the regular server
to your actual jabber server's name.

Subject: [Gaim-support] using gaim to communicate over ssh to a jabber server
Hi
I'd like to be able to open up an ssh connection to our main jabber
server from my home ADSL connection so that I can point gaim at a local
port and communicate with the server.
I tried
ssh -v firewall.server.domain.name -L 5005:host.smtl.co.uk:5222 -N
firewall.smtl.co.uk
the firewall routes the ssh connection throgh to our internal server.
I can't get gaim to talk to our jabber server (or rather can't get it to
work). I set the server as localhost, port 5005.
If I set Connect server to localhost, the jabber server complains that:
20041215T13:53:35: [notice] (localhost): bouncing a routed packet to
pete@localhost from 10@c2s/80DDBA0: Unable to deliver, destination unknown
Any ideas what I should set the connect server field to ?
Regards
Pete
