Subject: Hi y'all & menu re-organization (?)

Hi y'all

I'm Jason Lustig, i want to introduce myself to the list. :) I'm a CS student at brandeis university, and i'm interested in getting involved with making Gaim really awesome. I use gaim, and it is a great program though sometimes it's a little hard to use and I think that the UI could use a bit of reorganization to make it into the best IM client out there and improve ease-of-use, especially for new users.

I think that the menus could use a bit of re-organization to make them make more sense. Certain items don't seem to fit into the menus that they are in... take for example the "Buddies" menu. It has "New IM", "Join a Chat", both which don't seem to fit into that menu. I propose that we re-organize the menuitems into these menus:

Accounts (Sign On Account, Sign Off All Accounts, Add Account, Away, Quit, etc)
Chat (New IM, Join a Chat, etc.)
Buddies (Show Offline Buddies, Add Buddy, Buddy Pounce, etc)
Tools (Preferences, Privacy, File Transfers, etc.)
Help (just regular help/about stuff)

What do you guys think? And how would I go about helping out generally?

Also I have a question about gaim's core - is it possible to link it into other things, like say mozilla? I am considering building perhaps a standalone IM client built with the mozilla xul toolkit using the gaim to talk to the different IM services... thoughts? How could I pull this off?
Thanks a lot,
Jason
