No, no, and no. I wonder how you get that implication? Note that he said "closed", not "closed source". If you look at http://zd.linux.com.cn/ (babelfish works good enough), you should see that the author says he stopped offering it for download (but if you look close enough on the same page, you actually can still find the files). So I think he means "closed" as in, not available. Chinese Tencent QQ protocol?

Hi, Would there be anybody interested in developing Tencent QQ (www.tencent.com, www.qq.com and www.qq.co.za) protocol for Gaim? QQ is the most popular IM in China with about 30 million users (total number of chinese Internet users is about 80 million www.cnnic.com.cn). I know there is a plugin called libqq from http://zd.linux.com.cn/. However I think it's not GPL'ed, since it's only available for Gaim 0.64 and I didn't find sources anywhere. I also contacted the person but with no reply. I'm not software developer (I just know a little bit Java) so I cannot do it by myself. In case somebody is interested developing I could try to help in the project, somehow.
