The latest newsletter from database software provider MySQL.com
announced the availability of a new discussion forum for GIS
applications:
"This forum is for anyone who is interested in using the MySQL
support for the OpenGIS Geometry Model."

"Spatial Extensions" were introduced in MySQL version 4.1 and are
covered in chapter 18 of the reference manual,

MySQL software is dual-licensed, available under GNU GPL for free
download and under other license terms for paying customers.
