I've upgraded to 0.13.02, and it looks like it might do the right thing:

  emerge -uav g-cpan
  cd /usr/local/portage
  cp -a dev-perl perl-gcpan
  mv dev-perl dev-perl.safe

  g-cpan -l
  *snip massive long list*


It's frustrating that I can't do -up or -ua though ...

 ferrari ~ # g-cpan -u -a
  * g-cpan: You can't combine actions with each other.

 ferrari ~ # g-cpan -u
  * g-cpan: Looking for .svn...
 CPAN: Storable loaded ok
 Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata
 ^C

I'd really like to know what it's going to do before I let it loose on
my system ....
