How do I disable it? I didn't see a reference to it as a command line
option with catalyst.

This sounds like it may be related to kerncache.
If it is enabled on catalyst1 disable it as it doesnt work properly.
That will probably take care of your issues.
Catalyst2 which is in cvs should have improved kerncache support.
