Last night before I left my office I kicked off another
build. When I go in this morning I fired it up and the gensplash finally worked
great! It was very nice. I used the stage2 spec file to add a user which should
get automatically logged in. Even that worked for me. For some reason the login
is ignoring my rc.conf settings and not starting Gnome. It just logs into a
blank x-session. I figured I must be missing something, which I probably am. So
I made a few tweaks and here is where it gets odd, I started another stage2
build and it errored on the splash theme out of the blue. Worked perfect the
build before and I made no changes to the kernel or anything else that should
mess with it. There was no description of the problem either. I tried several
times. Finally I decided to update my portage snapshot and start over. Weird,
just plain weird. Anyone have that happen before?
