     This fall we see our Austro-Hugarian player,
Rohan, eliminated. Quite a change of fortune in this
fluid game. A power ballooned up to eight supply
centers by Fall ?02, only to find itself eliminated
before game?s end.

     Our Russian player, Mike, may wish to tread
carefully. At a single supply center, he is perilously
close to following Britain and Austria-Hungary to
elimination in rapid succession.

Moscow: 
     I was in the process of translating "Deutschland
uber alles" when I came across a startling discovery.
The word "Deutsch" does not mean "German"!! It really
means "We who wish we were Dutch." It all comes from a
sad drinking song written back in the 17th century.
Apparently the Germans, once comprising a hodgepodge
of small principalities, pleaded on several occasions
to become part of Holland. Their pleas were rejected
largely because the Dutch didn't want to lower the
national standards to where the general population
would have problems with simple sanitation. The Dutch,
being smarter, richer, harder working, better looking,
more ethical and simply tougher than all their
neighbors simply did not want to take on the burden.
You think perhaps I am exaggerating? Only once in the
last 300 years has anyone captured Holland and even
then it was when it wasn't paying attention. Let's
face it the Germans got lucky...for about 3 years.
After that, back in the toilet. This historical fact
is brought to you by the same people that brought you
folding napkins, bedsores, keyboards, fog and those
little umbrellas they put in drinks. Let us all offer
a toast to the Dutch.
