Xorg.0.log file
Hi there,
This bug has been reported to Ubuntu (see link above).
Post boot, the gdm screen is blank but gdm is running and login can be blindly
made. After login, the screen resumes normally.
Attempts to run xrandr during login by alternate login to a console fails with
the message "no display found!".
In the attached log file, this can be seen by the AUDIT: line (line 1116), so,
if any releveant log message can help they should be locate in that area of the
log file (where the VT switch is also logged)
Let me know if I can help in any way.
Driver version is 6.7.197.

I'm also seeing this bug on a radeon 9550 AGP (RV350). It only happens when XAA
is used, keeping DRI enabled and switching to EXA, the test works fine. Running
X server 1.4, vanilla kernel 2.6.23.
When the test hangs X, the mouse cursor can still be moved but there is no
response to the keyboard.

(II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 using monitor section Generic Monitor

(II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 using initial mode 1600x1024
Looks like it's trying to use 1600x1024 on startup for some reason. Can you
attach your xorg config? perhaps you have a strange mode or sync range set in
your monitor section? Does startx (as opposed to gdm) work ok? gnome/gdm
sometimes saves previously set user modes.

Google Earth + Radeon = True
Hello, for a long time I was unable to get Google Earth + Open Source Radeon
driver to work together on my IBM T42 w/ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 M10. I
therefore had to cope with the instabilities of the ATI fglrx driver (system
freezes) when I wanted Google Earth to work.
However, a came over some instructions on how to make it work:
http://www.bramschoenmakers.nl/node/315
I already had accellerated 3D when using the radeon driver, but Google Earth
was still extremely slow. But the driconf settings given at the above web
page did the trick, and now Google Earth is working beautifully, apart for a
1min startup delay. (NB! I had to use ~/.drirc, not ~/.driconf for the
driconf configuration filename on my Debian Unstable system)
Since many are complaining about instabilities in the fglrx-driver, and quite
a few are probably using it to make Google Earth work, maybe the page
mentioned above should be linked to from the radeon driver webpages?
Best regards,
Torquil Sørensen
