I hate to say "me too", so I'll wrap it in some verbiage about how much
I hate to say it.

If you can tell us precisely why a count matters (and which events you
want to count, which is a weird concept when some may be on the wire
when you call XPending) then we can suggest a solution that may or may
not involve changing XCB.
