Subject:	[PATCH] First pass at finishing the last major feature on the TODO list (RequestName)

Here is my RequestName patch that implements the changes discussed here:

I am working on a comprehensive test that checks the different states
but right now it passes all the tests in make check including the GLib
and Python tests.  It is quite a big change.  Let me know if anything
needs reworking or cleanups.
