I have an FX290. Had the same problem. You need to add some kernel
parameters for 4.5 to work. The second two you will have to give by
breaking into the boot sequence. I think "set $parameter" will work for
those.

agp_load="YES"
hw.pcic.intr_path=1
hw.pcic.irq=0

The agp_load is for X11. You will need that later in order to use X. I
put them all in /boot/loader.conf.
