hinting lost on generating ttf

Hi all

I have a problem that simply loading any ttf font with hinting and then 
choosing "generate fonts->truetype" will always lose the hinting, even if I 
make no modifications. I've checked the option that enables hints in truetype 
is on and played with every combination of enabling and disabling 
autohinting. It does not appear to ever save the hinting information that is 
already in a font. This is not a problem when converting it to an otf. I 
don't have a choice in saving as ttf since openoffice 2 still can't deal with 
an otf.

I tried downloading a precompiled binary and building my own with no change.

Executable based on sources from 08:15 22-Aug-2006.
