[sshfs] Write slower than Read?

I didn't see this in the FAQ.

I noticed that I'm only averaging 3 MB/s write speeds, but can get 11 MB/s read 
speeds.  When compared to scp, it can do 11 MB/s read and write.  Is this 
normal?  I'm testing this between two Debian Etch machines.
