Thanks. Does the '-oreaddir_ino' option help?

This is strange, because this method of determining the pwd (reading
".." and checking which directory matches our inode) has been
superseded by the getcwd() system call since linux-2.2, and all pwd
implementations I've seen use this system call.

What does

/bin/pwd --version

say?
