This sort of error occurs when you run commands from within a
directory that doesn't exist.  Perhaps the directory you are working
in is being deleted by the rpmbuild process?  Without knowing what
your current dir is, it's a bit hard to say.

Do you have permission to write to /home/compileuser/rpm/RPMS/i586/
and the parents of that directory?  What user are you running rpmbuild
as?
