Hello,

Never mind my previous post - I didn't have the user PIN configured :-( . Both Putty and OpenSSH are working now.

A quick question - should I concentrate my efforts on using the Linux PAM module instead of built-in OpenSSH support? I guess I would use the latter for a non-Linux UNIX...

Thanks,

Mike

Subject: OpenSSH and SCB/Putty Questions

Hello,

FYI, I'm a newbie at using OpenSC and from what I've seen, it could be a very useful
package at our site. I'm having a couple of issues:

a problem with scb 0.6 and putty. When I try to connect to a remote OpenSSH server using
an eToken, I get:

Unable to load private key ()

which appears after I enter the PIN at the prompt - here are the two previous prompts:

Authenticating with public key ""
Passphrase for smartcard:

I took the eToken to the remote server, an OpenSC 0.11.0 /OpenSSH 4.3 on a Fedora Core 5
box and did a:

ssh -I 0 "root at localhost"

and got the shell as expected. Second question: I wasn't prompted for the PIN even though
I added the ask-for-pin patch to the OpenSSH build.

Thanks in advance.

Mike
