OT: Driver for Chipdrive PCMCIA PRO

and sorry if this is off-topic (it probably is).

I jst received a "Chipdrive PCMCIA Pro", which is a
 karsten@delle:~$ /sbin/cardctl ident
 Socket 0:
   product info: "SCR243 PCMCIA", "Smart Card Reader"
   manfid: 0xffff, 0x0001

There exists a linux driver on the SCM website, including source. But it is 
only for kernel 2.4.x, and trying to compile it under 2.6.10 gave horrible 
results :)

Is anybody aware of any efforts to port this driver to 2.6.x? I emailed the 
support at chipdrive.de and scmmicro.de, but have no answer, yet.
