This is a terrible idea. Note that if you have say 40mb/sec on regular
lvm partition, you will be reduced to about 10mb/sec on the cow. also, major fs intensive things are likely to kill your cow. (i have noticed nessus completely ruining a lvm snapshot). because of this, there is work being done to create a real cow fs in replacement of lvm snapshots. ~ chris On Fri, 2005-07-29 at 16:38 +0100, Jason McCandless wrote: > I have a number of xen domains running on lvm cow snapshots. Thread at a glance:
Previous Message by Date:multiple level lvm snapshotsI have a number of xen domains running on lvm cow snapshots. I would like to make cow snapshots of these. Does anybody know if this is possible using lvm? i.e. it would be: base_image -> cow snapshot -> cow snapshot Next Message by Date:Re: [Xen-users] Setting the date not working in xenOn 7/29/05, Ian Pratt <m+Ian.Pratt@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > independent_wallclock=1 on the kernel command line should fix this too. > > Should we change the default? I guess today's common usage model for Xen No. The hardware time and syncing this to UTC is a function of the system, not the instances. Why have n ntpd daemons running when one is sufficent? I think "independent_wallclock=1" should be the special case, when someone wants to change the instance's view of UTC. Personally I've simply removed the ntpdate/ntpd package from my domU init packages. -- Nicholas Lee http://stateless.geek.nz gpg 8072 4F86 EDCD 4FC1 18EF 5BDD 07B0 9597 6D58 D70C Previous Message by Thread:multiple level lvm snapshotsI have a number of xen domains running on lvm cow snapshots.
