I spent this morning in the Flex-ES development labs.

There's no idealogical objection to Windows - but it is very hard to 
achieve the I/O performance that current and future versions of Flex-
ES demand ón a Windows platform.

There are other concerns apart from performance, but since that is 
the show-stopper there's no point going into them.
