Re: Installing Win98 under Bochs?: msg#00104emulators.bochs.devel

Also, I can only boot Bochs as root. I have > tried changing permissions and groups, as recent responses to other posts > have suggested, but so far it is still no go. Bochs can boot from CD-ROM if it is able to access the media. Have a look at the logfile (e.g. bochsout.txt). > Once I boot the Win98 floppy I can partition and format the c.img file as > the C: drive with no problems. What I get is: > > 00000000000p[ ] >>PANIC<< dlopen failed for module 'extfpuirq': file > not found This module (plugin) is not present in Bochs 2.0.2, but in the 2.1 prerelease. I guess you have mixed both versions (2.1 executable + 2.0.2 plugins). If you compile Bochs yourself, you should do the final step 'make install'. > and quite a few like these: > > 00000327108i[VBIOS] VGABios $Id: vgabios.c,v 1.34 2003/08/15 23:49:28 > cbothamy Exp > 00000327339p[VGA ] >>PANIC<< VBE unknown Display Interface b0c2 > The main puzzling thing is that the PANICs say that the interface is > unknown, then after I say to continue, the next line in the log says that > it IS known. What does any of this mean? You are using a new VGABIOS image (rev. 0.4a) with an old vga emulation plugin. To avoid trouble you should always use plugins and rom images distributed with the same package as the main Bochs executable. > I then get a lot of lines like: > > 00021242414i[BIOS ] *** int 15h function AX=D800, BX=0026 not yet > supported! The guest OS tries to detect the PCI bus, but Bochs is usually compiled without PCI and the 'i440fxsupport' is disabled in config. > 03388040767e[CPU0 ] return_protected: CS.rpl < CPL > 03388040767e[CPU0 ] CS.rpl=0 CPL=3 > 03398754073e[CPU0 ] call_protected: cs.p = 0 > 03398754535e[CPU0 ] return_protected: CS.rpl < CPL > 03398754535e[CPU0 ] CS.rpl=0 CPL=3 > /usr/bin/bochs: line 19: 544 Segmentation fault GUEST=$GUEST > bochs-bin -q $@ > r > > The install sucessfully goes through scandisk and loading the wizard. Please repeat you test with all Bochs components of the same package. -- Bye Volker ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: The SF.net Donation Program.
