Installing Win98 under Bochs?: msg#00100

Subject: Installing Win98 under Bochs?

I have installed Bochs, and am now trying to install Win98 SE as a client OS. My host OS is Debian GNU/Linux and I have the latest version (2.0.2) of Bochs.

I can get Bochs started and boot a Win98 install floppy. I can not seem to boot from the CD-ROM. Also, I can only boot Bochs as root. I have tried changing permissions and groups, as recent responses to other posts have suggested, but so far it is still no go.

Once I boot the Win98 floppy I can partition and format the c.img file as the C: drive with no problems. I then change to the E: drive (CD-ROM) and change directories to E:\win98_se\setup and run the setup program. That is where my problems begin.

I get quite a few PANICs, but nothing that actually prevents the install from continuing. What I get is:

00000000000p[ ] >>PANIC<< dlopen failed for module 'extfpuirq': file not found
17:04:01: message size is 732,24
17:04:01: minsize is 762,208
17:04:04: you pressed button id=46, return value=0

and quite a few like these:

00000327108i[VBIOS] VGABios $Id: vgabios.c,v 1.34 2003/08/15 23:49:28 cbothamy Exp

17:04:14: you pressed button id=46, return value=0
00000544235i[VGA ] VBE known Display Interface b0c2

The main puzzling thing is that the PANICs say that the interface is unknown, then after I say to continue, the next line in the log says that it IS known. What does any of this mean?

I then get a lot of lines like:

00021242414i[BIOS ] *** int 15h function AX=D800, BX=0026 not yet supported!

and

00021611963i[BIOS ] PCI BIOS not present

which, while not PANICs do wory me, particularly the one about no PCI BIOS.

This is the resat of the log file (with duplicates deleted as indicated) and then it segfaults, as shown in the last line.

The install sucessfully goes through scandisk and loading the wizard. It then usually gets most of the way through the next section of checks, but never makes it to actually doing any installing. Is there something else that I need to change in my config file that the defaults aren't good for, or what?

If necessary, I can post the entire log file, but that is 56Kb, even the version with many duplicate lines snipped is 15Kb.

I could also post my .bochsrc, but that is about 26Kb.

Any help would be appreciated.
