Subject: win95b boot failure with non-integer mips - msg#00180

List: emulators.bochs.devel

Date: Prev Next Index Thread: Prev Next Index
Hello,

I have Bochs 2.0.2 nicely working on my AMD box (1.666 GHz) running Slackware 9 (kernel 2.4.20; glibc 2.3.1; kde 3.1). To run win95b with a decently responding mouse, I have set vga_update_interval to 10000 (with a bochs warning that it is "awfully small") and ips set at 5M. This setup works like my old P120, with the exception of the timer/clock in win95, which is to fast. Experimenting with various ips settings showed an inverse relation, with the clock running 1:1 at an ips value of 5281100. Though, any non-integer mips value (e.g. 5.5, thus ips=5500000) hangs win95 at boot after displaying "starting windows 95" and before showing the splash screen. Has anybody similar experiences?

gr,
Marc

Re: Re: patch for Plex86 support

This patch permits Bochs to use the virtualisation in a Plex86 in the host kernel. I'm not sure if the optimisations for Linux (the kernel) will work with Bochs+Plex86. And i don't think it supports Windows as of now. Please could someone put the patch in the patches/ directory? > Robert Millan wrote: > >Hi! > > > >Using Kevin's experimental tarball that was made some time ago, > >and differing it against that old version of Bochs from CVS, i've > >made a patch for Bochs that adds Kevin's changes to the current > >version of Bochs in CVS. > > > >See > >http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=705777&group_id=12580&atid=312580 > > for details. > > > >And you can get the patch here: > >http://people.debian.org/~rmh/bochs-plex86-updated.diff.gz > >note it is untested, all i did is differing and updating Kevin's work. > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by:Crypto Challenge is now open! > Get cracking and register here for some mind boggling fun and > the chance of winning an Apple iPod: > http://ads.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/redirect.pl?thaw0031en > _______________________________________________ > bochs-developers mailing list > bochs-developers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bochs-developers > -- Robert Millan make: *** No rule to make target `war'. Re: Keyboard ..

Do you have the line: keyboard_mapping: enabled=1, map=/usr/local/share/bochs/keymaps/x11-pc-us.map in your .bochsrc? Be sure to use the correct path for your installation. > My keybord mappins for boch is really messed up, and I have been > looking all over, does anybody have any idea ? ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by:Crypto Challenge is now open! [announce] QEMU x86 emulator version 0.1

Hi, The first release of the QEMU x86 emulator is available at http://bellard.org/qemu/. QEMU achieves a fast user space Linux x86 emulation on x86 and PowerPC Linux hosts by using dynamic translation. Its main goal is to be able to run the Wine project on non-x86 architectures.
