Subject: Proggy? Howto get Aquamacs in vanilla state?

Hello!

Since I want to use Proggy fonts on my mac Emacs, the only candidate
I've found is Aquamacs, that at least sort of handles it (bold doesn't
work though, so I manually have to set-face-bold-p on a bunch of faces
to nil, but what don't you do for your favorite font... :)

1) Has anyone managed to show Proggy on another distribution?

The reason I'm not satisfied with Aquamacs is that I just can't get
Aquamacs in a state where it just reads my .emacs and go. Now, it's
impossible to let .emacs decide initial font and frame position/size.
It's ok that they recommend another approach (god knows why though,
since the whole point with a platform independent editor is the
ability to just build a personal .emacs that can be used everywhere,
but that's another debate). But shouldn't the obvious
"common-emacs-user-migration-behaviour" at least be possible (nothing
about this in the FAQ - just randomly spreaded small hints here and
there)? So,

2) Can someone please tell me how I can get Aquamacs to use my
.emacs-settings for initial font and frame position/size and just
leave all those customizations.el, frame-positions.el, Preferences.el
and everything else that is auto-created every time I quit Aquamacs
and that overrides my .emacs-settings, to be just blank? I just want
to put in my .emacs and go! (I DON'T want to cut'n'paste out some
parts of it and put it in new files here and there, just to glue it
back again when migrating to yet another platform next month)

This is what I've done so far:

Turn-off stuff (as recommended in the docs):
* unchecked options->frame appearance styles->frame appearance styles
* in .emacs: (smart-frame-positioning-mode nil)
* in .emacs: (aquamacs-styles-mode nil)
Set my stuff (as I always have done, and always want to do):
* in .emacs: (setq default-frame-alist blah blah...)
* in .emacs: (set-face-font 'default blah blah...)
* in. emacs: (desktop-change-dir blah blah...)

but Aquamacs still always use its own font and own initial frame size
and position. One VERY strange thing is that Aquamacs actually gets
the font right if set-face-font is executed AFTER desktop-change-dir
instead of before(!). Very weird...

Best regards,

/Stefan
