aquamacs 1.1 on OS X 10.4.10 movemail/imap

I've seemingly searched everywhere and can't seem to solve this  
problem, but can't believe I'm alone.

Running Aquamacs 1.1 on OS X 10.4.10 (powerbook), I want to use  
aquamacs as my mail reader/composer.  I'm accustomed to using imap4  
to retrieve messages from a remote server, and yet it seems that the  
default 'movemail'  installed with Aquamacs 1.1 does not support  
imap4, and one must use the GNU Mailutils movemail utility as it  
supports 'more features' (supposedly including imap4).  After a lot  
of digging I found the source package for gnu-mailutils-1.2 (could  
not find binaries using google) but 'make' returned an error,

I created the symlink in /usr/local/etc/mail.rc to /private/etc/ 
mail.rc and still the error.

So my question is, how can I get a Mailutils movemail for OS X that  
will use imap4 (at one point aquamacs informed me that the movemail  
it was using could  not use imap) either as a binary, or source that  
will build?

Or, is there another way to get aquamacs' rmail to use imap4 with its  
inherent mailfolders feature, because for me, pop3 doesn't cut the  
mustard?
