A few are working here:

• GNU Emacs 23.0.0 from CVS, self compiled for X11 and for Aqua as  
Emacs.app (Carbon code needs patches)
• GNU Emacs 22.1.50 from CVS, self compiled for X11 and as Carbon Emacs
• (Japanese) Carbon Emacs (package) based on GNU Emacs 22.1
• earlier versions for X11 and Aqua

They all work pretty fine with my ~/.emacs file. The (Japanese)  
Carbon Emacs (package) refuses to read the system's init file. The  
Aqua versions show superior font handling and integration into Aqua/ 
Cocoa, but have problems with pop-up menus (due to being developed  
for GNUstep/OPENSTEP which also runs on other hardware). Although GNU  
Emacs 23.0.0 is alpha software, it runs perfectly stable and is  
internally Unicode based – but seems to have problems with fontsets,  
i.e. it seems you need find *one* font for all characters you are  
going to use. There is no documentation on the specialties in Unicode  
Emacs 23.0.0, if you need to understand something particular you'll  
have to find *and understand* the Elisp file or C code providing it.
