If you are looking for monospace fontsets which are compatible with  
Japanese language, I recommend you to examine carbon-font.el by our  
group.  It arranges re-scale factors so that both Western and CJK  
(Chinese, Japanese and Korean) fontsets are monospaced.  I think  
Aquamacs also contains carbon-font.el.
