Doh, I must be getting old or as one of my friends said when I got a
lower nerd score than her: you are drifting too much into management
these days.

I managed to get the wrong icon installed in the dock - so all the
time where I have been fighting with the Aquamacs set-up I have been
running GNU Emacs. A big appology for that confusion!

It turns out that Aquamacs loads everything as it should which is good.

But, having said that there is another problem with Aquamacs that I
hietherto attributed to GNU Emacs: Aquamacs does not respect my
keyboard layout created using Ukelele! I have my own customised Danish
Dvorak layout and when I press any of the C-<key> shortcuts it uses
the normal system keyboard, e.g., C-x C-s becomes C-b C-; which does
not make a lot of sense.

For now I will continue to use GNU Emacs since it works for me and
while I am at it I will run over to the GNU Emacs wiki and remove the
big, stupid question I raised there on lack of respect for my keyboard
layout.

Again, I appologise for taking up your time.
Cheers,
Torben "more manager than nerd these days" Hoffmann

You shouldn't have to do that.

Ah, there's the problem -- you're starting up GNU Emacs, not Aquamacs
Emacs, which resides at "/Applications/Aquamacs Emacs.app/Contents/
MacOS/Emacs". That's why you're having to load Preferences.el
manually: at startup, GNU Emacs looks for a file called ".emacs" in
your home dir. So apparently you've installed them both. Go to
your /Applications directory and drag the "Aquamacs Emacs.app" icon
onto your Dock and start it from there. Aquamacs Emacs will find
your Preferences.el file at startup.
