Dear David,

Yes, ipython is on my path from an xterm. It's in /usr/local/bin.

Tonys-Mac-2:4:~ $ which ipython
/usr/local/bin/ipython

OK, since you have your own python-mode, I suggest you simply load
that python-mode file explicitly before requiring `ipython'. Do this:

(load "...path-to-your/python-mode.el")

before the "require" statement.

For some reason, Aquamacs can no longer find ipython. In the
*messages* buffer:

Loading /Users/mannucci/scripts/lisp/python-mode.el (source)...done
Can't find executable ipython - ipython.el *NOT* activated!!!

Well, we've solved one problem, this is the next one.
Is ipython in your PATH?
Can you start ipython by just typing in "ipython" from a terminal
(shell) ?
