1/ I didn't know about teTex being discontinued. Did Gerbin retire? In any case, I understand that TexShop can be configured for a different editor.

Gerben was not the teTeX maintainer.

2/ re: tecniscope. Yes, I suppose the installation was OK, but I found it confusing to have to define an invisible file to handle the preferences,

I don't know what you're referring to there...

4/ I'm wondering: when I type c-c c-j to trigger the Texniscope.app viewer, I get a message about a search or something. Do you have the same result? Did you configure different commands to trigger texniscope?

C-c C-j is TeXniscope's suggested keybinding for doing source -> preview search. However, to get this to work for PDF files you need to edit the file txs-search.el in /Applications/TeX/TeXniscope.app/ Contents/Resources. Instructions are on the Emacs wiki: http:// www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/AquamacsTexniscope .

5/ Also, do you have a keyboard command to make aquamacs perform the latex command without having to do the pull down menu thing?

C-c C-c. Hitting those keys again immediately thereafter should start your previewer if it isn't already running.
