OK, since you have your own python-mode, I suggest you simply load
that python-mode file explicitly before requiring `ipython'. Do this:

(load "...path-to-your/python-mode.el")

before the "require" statement.

For some reason, Aquamacs can no longer find ipython. In the *messages* buffer:

Loading /Users/mannucci/scripts/lisp/python-mode.el (source)...done
Can't find executable ipython - ipython.el *NOT* activated!!!

ipython is in the same location as python-model.el. I have also created soft links to it in various places, but it cannot be found. The load path contains the directory where it resides, because I also have in .emacs:

(setq load-path (append load-path '("/Users/mannucci/scripts/lisp")))

So, the error is gone, because ipython is not loaded. I do not see this error if I "eval expression" (require 'ipython) while in Aquamacs, but it seems to have no effect. The usual python interpreter starts up, not ipython.
