Re: Templates in Aquamacs: msg#00013emacs.macintosh.osx
Hi Matt, I use emacs on mac os x to write everything in latex. Here is the solution I've adopted and it works ok. 1/ download the complete installation of the tetex from gerben wierda. [this will give you a complete tex installation and an editor]. [in addition it contains many templates for documents, books, slides, letters, etc. also the important memoir class] 2/ Then you can edit things with aquamacs. This is an emacs version that comes with the latex commands built in. 3/ There is a previewer called Tecniscope, but it's a pain to get running, so just stick with Preview.app [the default] 4/ I've always had problems getting flyspell to run. So the following works: Open up your x-windows application fink and download and install ispell. Then everything should work ok. 5/ Regarding AUCTeX, I think it already is installed with aquamacs. i always use the emacs editor [aquamacs] because it's superior in every way to any editor, especially when cutting pasting, searching, replacing, and so on. There is simply nothing as fast. Hope this helps. Ed On Dec 8, 2006, at 3:13 PM, Matthew Cohen wrote: First of all, my apologies if this is not the correct forum for this question. I am a new user of Emacs in general, and have only the barest understanding of Lisp, so it may very well be that the answers I seek can be found elsewhere and I just don't know how to look for them. I would like to set up Aquamacs such that when I create a new file with the extension .tex, the resulting new buffer automatically contains the LaTeX preamble (i.e. documentclass definitions, etc.) that I use in nearly everything I write. Currently, I have a file called "template.tex" that I open and then immediately rename, but I'd like to avoid this step. This seems like something that should be fairly straightforward to implement, but I don't really know how. Can anyone point me in the right direction? There is already some set of commands (in AUCTeX?) that generate the following text: %%% Local Variables: %%% mode: latex %%% TeX-master: t %%% End: when I create a .tex file. Can I edit this directly?
