From .doc to .png

Hi folks,

Does anyone have a good way to convert .doc to .png.  For some of my
applications it is useful to have a printable handout embedded in a
lesson plan.  I can easily do .pdf files from open office, but pngs
have advantages.

My students are very comfortable making .docs; they like to use
horizontal lines, so using separate wiki pages and exporting to .pdf
is not ideal.

So, any tips?  Searching online dumps out a large number of commercial
products.  Is there an ideal one I should purchase; or better yet a
free one?
