Please set me straight on user talk/discussion pages

This has been a problem for me too for a number of weeks.  Until now I haven't mentioned it because it's not really that annoying.

I find User talk and discussion pages helpful in improving the pages
without disturbing by editing. In community, I feel, the initiator has
first right to accept the edits. Here, the comments on discussion
pages will help in improving the pages by the author. Still, we
sometimes do not tend to open Discussion pages. To overcome this,
during development of CCNC modules http://www.wikieducator.org/index.php?title=CCNC/CCNC_Module_1,
we used Template{{Note|See my comments in the discussion area}} in the
page. It worked.

On the other hand, I am also facing the same problem as yours on New
Messages. I am also not finding any Message though WikiEd puts it on
my pages "YOU HAVE A NEW MESSAGE"...
