Template generator quirk: msg#00146

Subject: Template generator quirk

So based on Leigh's template generator
http://www.wikieducator.org/Otago_Polytechnic#Otago_Template_Generator
I made my own: http://www.wikieducator.org/Contributors_page

I was wondering what would happen if my students just happened to
reuse an existing page name (it could happen). Well, it turns out
that the template generator is overridden and sends you to the edit
page of the preexisting page. This is a slight problem because it may
not be recognized as an existing page by the user attempting to make
the new page.

So questions:
1. Is this easily fixable for the wiki wizards?
2. Is it worth fixing (what are the chances that this will be a
frequent problem)?

I have placed a note in my template that should act as a flag for my
students, but it is certainly not fool proof.

Cheers,

Declan
