Subject: CHAT: Medical Librarians mentioned in Advisory Board HR Watch

If you have access to the Advisory Board information you might want to check
out the HR Watch. I get the emailed newsletter and in the News Briefs section
one headline read "Medical librarians help providers stay up to speed ".
Clicking the link provided, I got a very brief report that providers are
"increasingly turning to medical librarians to help them stay abreast of the
latest clinical developments amid the pressures of patient care, the Dallas
Morning News reports." The short paragraph goes on to mention Texas Scottish
Rite Hospital for Children and their library for employees and their family
resource center. They then briefly mention that "demand is growing for highly
trained medical librarians" and that "researchers at Mount Sinai School of
Medicine, the University of Connecticut, and New York University are conducting
a multicenter study to evaluate barriers to physician-librarian collaboration
based on librarians' responses to an online questionnaire". If you have access
to the Advisory Board you can follow this link. But I've quoted a lot of this
short piece. Wonder if this will mean HR folks will become aware of this
"demand" that is "growing" and reevaluate my salary. Sigh. Don't I wish. ;-)
