Re: Improperly Configured Emilda/Yaz/Zebra?: msg#00014

Subject: Re: Improperly Configured Emilda/Yaz/Zebra?
Note that, should anything happen to your connection to any of those servers that remain in the MARC.inc file when you add a new book, you'll get that same error message again, but for them, instead.

IE: If a router goes down between you and the Library of Congress servers, you'll get error messages saying the LOC is unreachable.

At best, you'll just reduce the frequency at which the PHBs complain.

A more permanent solution would be to add an option to the user profile that toggles whether the YAZ/Zebra errors are displayed or not.

Thanks Mattias - in fact, I now notice you said that exact same thing several emails ago. Not sure how I missed that, but thanks for repeating it. :)

My books get added fine to the database once I do them manually, so it's really only the big red letters that Pointy Haired Boss types won't like to see, because it then seems that something in the program is going wrong. Trying to explain it's not serious may or may not help. So I have backed up the original MARC.inc file, and removed those servers from the array as you suggested. Everything else seems to be running smoothly, so thanks again to all for the help!

Cheers,

I think I understand the purpose/process now of the Z3950 implementation
though, and it's definitely a great idea. But with these error messages
on my system, I'm left with either trying to forcibly suppress them by
commenting sections of code within Emilda/Zebra, or else trying to edit
the list of servers/ports Zebra should be using to ask for information
about new books. Any thoughts on where I should be looking for such a
configuration file for Zebra? I've tried looking through documentation
for Zebra online, without any luck. I've also tried looking through the
zebra.cfg file, as well as most of the files in the "tab/" subdirectory,
for any mention of servers/ports, also without any luck. All thoughts
are appreciated.

The servers used by Emilda to query databases is defined in the
lib/MARC.inc file, you're looking for the $REMOTE_DATABASES array at the
beginning of the file. This is the only way to edit this at the moment,
no other "config" file exists.
