Hi All,
I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times but...
I'm looking at library management system for a small org comparing
MyPhpLib, OpenBiblio and Emilda. Of the three Emilda looks most
suitable but for reasons beyond my control its a no Linux house.
So I'm trying to install on Windows for my sins. I've the db client
stuff going but as stated on the Emilda site (I believe) the main
problem is getting Net::Z3950 installed. Is there any idiot guide to
doing this, or is the general consensus that it is not possible without
a lot/too much work?
For reference, as I'm thinking of giving up on this, to those who may
try after me here's some changes I made to get things going under Windows:
1) Had to use PHP 4, as the yaz dlls for 5 were compiled to still use
php4ts.dll - even the latest.
2) Changed edit_row in mgmnt.inc to check record==null.
3) Modify the perl scripts to use <DRIVE>:\<PERL_HOME>\bin instead of
/usr/bin/perl
I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who's got Emilda working on
an MS OS.
Hello John,
Windows and Emilda is regrettably a no-can-do. Emilda itself runs on
Windows, but the required Perl API to the Zebra server does not compile
on Windows. At least none of us have managed to get this part correctly,
and thus we cannot help you any further than that.
I'm not sure about Net:Z3950, but when testing Windows and Emilda, I got
Net:Z3950 installed using the ppm tool, if im not entirely mistaken.
Please let us know if you manage to get any further with your Emilda
installation on Windows, since this would be a break-through! We are
working on getting Windows Emilda compatible, and version 1.3 might be
so, this is not entirely clear.
Best regards,
Thanks,
John
PS - The Linux install is great, well done folks!
