It depends greatly on what you want to do; zebra can perform
MARC-XML conversions on the fly, i.e. the records in zebra can be
USMARC but zebra still can supply MARCXML. Thus, you can manage
these MARCXML records using any arbitrary tool, convert these to
USMARC and submit these to Zebra, and Emilda will have no problem
using these.
If you want to change the backend to MARCXML it will be a bit
different, and you would have to create a new Record Class that
would be able to handle MARCXML, but otherwise I see no problems.
yes exactly. i thought of backend switch :-)
am i right that MARC.pl is the only place where any supplied
request-data is MUNGED BACK into backend-specific format ?
i fear there are various places where emilda relies on fetched data
from zebra is MARC and nothing else ...
(as noted in some previous thread it would be somehow desirable in
some far future to configure some custom zebra-server-specific data as
passwords, record format ...
for record-format this would also imply some revised abstraction
mechanisms for "mapping back" record-fields to bib1-attributes ...)
